Mindfulness-Meditation is a secular practice brought to the West by the Buddhist wisdom community, after centuries of lineage training and development. Much of their wisdom and meditation practice aligns with and is supported by western psychology and neuroscience.
With a mindfulness-meditation practice, we can transform neuro-pathways associated with focusing our attention, and with our experience of stress and emotional reactivity. We also learn to become more compassionate with ourselves, and our very sense-of-self is impacted.
Oregon Meditation carefully curates a welcoming and inclusive space to learn these meditation skills. Group workshops and individual training sessions are tailored to the needs and interests of the student(s). Topics associated with a successful mindfulness-meditation practice are incorporated into each training and workshop, along with Q&A and a short practice session.
Single sessions are designed to support students in developing a meditation practice, while our 3 pack/part workshops and trainings are particularly helpful for building a successful meditation habit over time.

Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness
Studies associated with mindfulness-meditation and trauma-recovery suggest trauma-survivors can benefit from learning meditation skills. Unfortunately, trauma can impede a person’s ability to tolerate a mindfulness-meditation practice. The symptoms of trauma can create a dysregulated nervous system, often with intrusive thoughts/emotions/images, and so on. Enter Trauma-Sensitive Mindfulness, or TSM.
TSM can make meditation more accessible to people who might not otherwise be able to tolerate meditation and experience the benefits. In fact, mediation could be harmful under certain circumstances. TSM empowers people to make choices about their meditation at any given moment, utilizing tangible skills to be with, work with, or come back to the meditation when they are ready.
